What if we treated nature as if it were infrastructure?

This was a question posed in our webinar update on our development of a Natural Infrastructure Plan for New Zealand. Infrastructure enables vital services that drive a productive economy, safeguards communities, helps achieve broader environmental goals and supports our wellbeing. But so too does nature.

As Erica Miles shared in our webinar today, “With the collective support from the public and the private sectors, we are ultimately wanting to fulfil the vision of the plan which is to bring infrastructure and natural infrastructure together so that we can achieve enduring prosperity for Aotearoa New Zealand.

“We want to have an infrastructure plan that deals with that, responds to international best practise principles. And to ensure that our investments are sustainably funded, efficiently, used and delivering social benefit, we want to ensure that our work aligns with domestic and key sustainable finance standards and taxonomies.”

Our development milestone is the Executive Forum in Wellington where experts, leaders and decision makers will come together to further shape our plan. Watch our webinar below.
