The letter was read aloud at a Circle hui held at Government House by Her Excellency, the Rt Hon Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor-General of New Zealand and Co-Patron of The Circle. In her remarks, she said: 

“The Aotearoa Circle epitomises the ambition, creativity and tenacity that His Majesty refers to in his letter, in their determination to secure a more sustainable future. By encouraging proactive next steps with regards to climate adaptation and the restoration of our vital natural capital, Aotearoa Circle gives us hope for a way forward.” 

This message from His Majesty is both an honour and a call to action. It strengthens our resolve to accelerate efforts to protect and restore New Zealand’s natural capital - for the wellbeing of future generations. His support for our kaupapa is deeply valued.
