Native Forests Report

Resetting the balance between exotic trees and biodiverse native forests is at the heart of a Biodiversity Native Forests report, developed by The Aotearoa Circle with secretariat support from PwC New Zealand.

It explores ways in which regeneration of native biodiversity could be accelerated at scale while also optimising use of New Zealand’s land assets. The report seeks to level the playing field between critical biodiverse native forests and exotic forests through joint action by Government and the private sector.

Native Forests: Resetting the Balance

Explores how Aotearoa New Zealand can restore ecological balance by scaling up native afforestation, rethinking incentives, and aligning policy to support long-term environmental, cultural, and climate resilience.
