Low Carbon Energy Roadmap

This Low Carbon Energy Roadmap outlines a pathway to net zero carbon emissions by 2050 while ensuring energy in Aotearoa remains secure, affordable, and sustainable.

Co-designed by a diverse Leadership Group and Technical Advisory Group following the inaugural Fenwick Forum in 2020, the roadmap was shaped by the energy trilemma and informed by evolving technologies, shifting energy demand and the vital role of diverse energy sources.

The roadmap also draws on He Ara Waiora - a Māori framework grounded in principles such as tiakitanga (guardianship), kotahitanga (unity) and manaakitanga (care and respect).
