February Workstream Update

Transport Sector Climate Scenarios

The Transport Sector Climate Scenarios working group had their final workshop late last year. The team are now drafting up the scenario narratives and then review and refinement these with the Working group and Wider Interest Group.

There is one final session planned, on the 15th February, where the Transport and Energy Sector workstreams come together to collaborate for a second time, organised jointly by KPMG and PwC. During this workshop there will be some guest speakers, and then a focussed working session to map out key points of intersection between the two sectors, to ensure alignment in the final reports.

Enhanced Capital Access

At the end of last year, the Aotearoa Circle completed our strategic conversation series as part of our ‘enhanced capital access’ action, which was an extension from the agriculture and tourism adaptation roadmaps.

Throughout our work, we’ve consistently heard that businesses and industries know the actions they must take, but access to funding is one of the greatest barriers to starting the initiatives which will improve outcomes for natural capital.

The conversation series included our sustainable finance webinar and bank-only workshop in October, and three sector-focus sessions in November and December.  We discussed the need to raise awareness of green finance options, extending existing products and identifying new funding pathways.

One of the key next steps includes our upcoming release of an interactive sustainability funding ecosystem map, which will be shared as an open access resource.
